We are a small, long established primary school of around 50 pupils in the heart of the idyllic village of Sheepscombe. Within this inspirational setting we truly believe that every child has the opportunity to flourish and be successful across all areas of the curriculum, as well as developing as individuals through our core values which are underpinned by kindness, compassion and respect. We believe that an education here allows firm foundations to be set for the future. Children leave here happy, confident, independent and ready for the challenges ahead.
The staff at Sheepscombe School are a dedicated, experienced and child centered team who support every child in a caring and stimulating environment. We have a Co Headship leadership structure here which means we have a full time, school based, teaching Head. We are well staffed across the school and also are able to offer an 8 place preschool ‘ Little Lambs’ three days per week and run a Breakfast club and After School clubs every day of the week.
We work hard to deliver an engaging, exciting thematic curriculum, that promotes curiosity and inspires each child to reach their full potential whatever their starting point. We value the use of the outdoor space and use this to support our learning throughout the week, including Forest School sessions led by our own Forest School Leader at the National Trust site at Ebworth, right on our doorstep.
The culture within our school is one of warmth and friendliness. We operate as one big school family, with children and adults looking out for each other within an ethos of high expectations. We continually strive to provide the very best quality teaching, learning and emotional support for every child, in every year group, every day. The size of our school means every member of staff knows each child really well and vice versa, the children know all of the staff well too.
The local community is very important to us at Sheepscombe and we involve them in everything we do. We also appreciate and welcome parental involvement and actively encourage our parents to participate in school life. Our parent association FOSS (Friends of Sheepscombe School) plays an active and important role and is a big part of our supportive school community. We all believe in a shared passion that enables children to feel safe and secure whilst in our care and to do their very best in everything that comes their way.
