Each class goes up to Ebworth on a fortnightly basis taking it in turns to enjoy the Forest School sessions. Forest School sessions are on Monday afternoons.
We also have a whole school day in the early summer term which parents, carers, grandparents and members of the local community are invited to attend.
Our route follows the Poetry Trail.
Forest School is an educational concept where children go to the same bit of woodland (or other natural environment) on a regular basis to play and learn (although these are by no means separate processes). The children have the opportunity to engage in achievable tasks, use their creativity and initiative, play in a group or by themselves and learn about the natural world.
Merlin & Kestrel Class
The children develop their confidence and their knowledge in various areas and have the chance to take supported risks. We offer creative activities with natural materials, games, nature studies, fire lighting and using hand tools, and there will also be the opportunity to work in the school garden (also located at the Ebworth Centre).
A central aspect to Forest School is that it is child-led, so sessions are not meticulously planned nor are children expected to take part in all organised activities as they are allowed to choose their own learning.
